The four games

The levels build step by step: simple CVC words first, then a blend at the start (CCVC), two consonants at the end (CVCC), and finally longer words with consonants at both ends (CCVCC).

How it works

Children hear a word, look at the picture and slide the scrambled letters into the right order. Tick to check: green means correct, red means try again, and every finished word is read aloud.

• Two or three teams: a relay on the whiteboard with the picture to spell. Every team builds the same word, and the first to finish gets a bonus point.
• One player: one word at a time on a tablet or phone, with gentle feedback and no timer.
• Two listening modes: Listen & Make says the sounds, then the word (c… a… t… cat); Hear the Word says the whole word twice. A buzzer tells children when to start.
• Points for every letter placed right first time, and results that show the words to practise.
• The PDFs work on the whiteboard or printed for small groups: Level 1 with picture and letter clues, Level 2 with picture clues only.
